Beginner Chainsaw Safety & Felling Training 2-Day Event!

When: MAY 31ST @ 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM CST & JUNE 1ST @ 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM CST

Where: Hubachek Wilderness Research Center 425 Shady Lane Ely, MN 55731

Learn to:

• Use the chainsaw safely and use proper felling techniques 
• Operate the chainsaw per OSHA rules and regulations 
• Demonstrate those rules with hands-on training and instructor guidance

This entry level training is for beginners as well as individuals looking to improve/hone in on their skills.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS!

Nathan Stanford

• Growing up in northern Wisconsin and Minnesota, Nathan has over 20 years of experience as a chainsaw safety instructor with a background in industrial safety management. During that time, Nathan served in a 10-year apprenticeship with progressive leaders in the industry. FSI has also worked with others that are at the top of their profession in education, forest management, safety training, and conservation. He has enjoyed being a part of adult education for chainsaw training to help individuals and organizations manage their trees safely.

Holly Rose

• Holly Rose is part of FSI administratively and as a team member. Along with Nathan, she is an independent training consultant for the US Forest Service and holds the “B” Sawyer/Bucker certification. Holly plays a crucial role in providing instruction and demonstration during class. Working with those new to a saw is one of her favorite parts of training. Along with her mentorship with Nathan and traveling nationwide with FSI, FISTA, and SAWW, she enjoys sharing her experiences as a Minnesota Master Naturalist Volunteer and insights from the trail as president of the Arrowhead Chapter of the North Country Trail. Holly lives in Brainerd, Minnesota with her kids and Yoko, the toughest cat in town.
